Therapeutic work from Porto

These are a small selection of pieces I made while on my art residency in Porto. During my time there I made other works - paintings of houses, drawings and graffiti on the streets but these by far are the most personal. The overall experience was amazing and beneficial on many levels but it was also tough at points as I hit some serious lows. These pieces were hugely therapeutic during those times and I am very proud of them

From Westport to Porto

Some recent pieces, Communication Unit V2.5 and V3.3. Ì made these during my last days in my studio in Westport, Ireland. I am now 2 weeks in Porto, Portugal in an art residency with 3 other artists. I have no strict plan for work here, I'm still exploring the city and getting inspiration from it. I'm starting to collect found objects and will hopefully be making new pieces from them, stay tuned!

Lesotho

'Lesotho' I gave this painting to my parents for Christmas. We spent a few years living in Lesotho in the early/mid eighties. This is an example of a rondavel house, they are usually made from materials found in the local area. I also became obsessed with swifts last summer and learned a lot about them, amazing birds. Happy New Year everyone and thanks for all the support in 2015 :)
